The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
Season 1 presents a diverse group of characters living within the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs detailing their conflicts, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads recur frequently: Could Angel Dust escape his tormentor? Might we learn more about the binding agreement constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Naturally, I don't make the show with audience demands as the main goal," the showrunner commented recently. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just inherently. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator reveals her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by the production companies, which finance the series.
That could imply viewers have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they may be surprised at how fast season 2 moves, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible disclosures, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've come across a few fans make a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on Oct. 29.
