The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the struggle between God and Mammon, the winner is obvious for Mammon in Michael Showalter's brilliantly over-the-top film adaptation of the disgraced religious broadcaster and her felon spouse. The actor plays the corrupt Bakker, who states at the beginning, claiming divine approval for wealth. Both individuals set about monetising the nation's religious faith. It's a spectacle of bad interior design, excessive cosmetics and bad faith, though Chastain succeeds to depict Tammy Faye as a sympathetic figure. Next Tuesday, 1.15am, Film4
