The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update. Digital Channels Reaction Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification. The company said the new system was more in line with comparable marketplaces. It has advised users to check their listings and update the measurements by hand when needed, resulting in member annoyance. Size Classification Modifications Previously, the sizes had both one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10. The updated approach includes an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10. In some cases, the sizing has been recategorised - such as a large size was previously a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Member Stories Frankie Bridger, who produces content about larger sizing, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," as the platform currently indicates. Another user, based in Glasgow, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were appearing on the platform as size 20–22. "Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said. Required Changes A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products". "Personally, this is quite irritating, since I have chronic health issues and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she said. Marketplace Information The service features exceeding 100 million users, with 18 million British users. It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop. This isn't the first time where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices following member complaints.
